The day awaited so long finally has arrived.It was really a co-incident for me when it comes to know Maliq D’Essentials will be performing.For an instant, while i was in Jakarta last month,we (muiz and I) never really had a plan to go to any specific nightspots,until when Muiz and i were sitting in the Barbershop near the Sarinah Jl Thamrin,that we found out that Maliq was going to perform on that very evening,so we decided we’ll give it a go! That was our first introduction to Maliq’s live performance live in Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta.And their performance totally blew us away.And the results- first time - muiz - became an instant fan.Back then i only knew some songs,but now i know all of em in the first album and the upcoming ones.


So we left a bit early to KL to avoid the crazy traffic jams on saturday afternoon,thanks for the Malaysian Mega Sale,everyone is mad about shopping malls! Duh… Anyhow we managed to comfortably park the car at Lot 10 and it took few mins to walk to Planet Hollywood (PH).
There wasnt like going any event,no ppl turned up yet.So we bought the ticket there,while the committee still were scratching their head,since they last-minute changed their venue from Plenary Hall,KLCC to PH KL.We went downstairs but it was more or less not prepared,and then we were kindly asked to wait outside cuz they were about to do the soundcheck n stuffs.Fair enough,but i felt the same environment as if I were in the HRC Jakarta last month,since all of them are Indonesians.

So the event kicked off quite late at about 4pm.While waiting outside,crowd slowly came i can easily tell that 70% are Indonesians students.That was kewl enuff,a good environment! Then came the MTV Indonesia crew with VJ Rianti preparing.I think ive seen this face before but where did i see?? Trying to recall…trying to recall..i made a wild guess.she’s Asri from that fav movie of mine "JOMBLO"
But i wasnt so sure.Well nevermind,she was a hot looking VJ too anyways.


At 4pm we were allowed to go in and it kinda started a bit later actually.So the host for the evening was a local presenter,who ran thru the performance by the indonesian students mostly from Sunway College and Limkokwing Univ.The first one was Bali dance,then followed by a female-led pop-rock band,and then again a Belawan dance, then a good trio band from LKW,followed by local KL band singing Acapella and Stoned Bay,great rocking band from here as well.
Last but not least the last dance were displayed before the final event of the day.


VJ Rianti then joined the stage to offer some freebies from MTV Indonesia,which by then i am particularly sure,that babe is that Asri in the movie JOMBLO.So they started with a simple question.
VJ Rianti : Namakan 2 track daripada album Maliq & The Essentials
Budiman: (raising hand)
VJ R : Mana ya yang ganteng2? Ha cowo yang di depan ini (sambil pointing towards Budiman)
Local host : Nama siapa?
Budiman : Budiman
LH :So namakan 2 lagu dari Maliq Budiman: Terdiam & Kangen!
VJR: (sambil memberikan hadiah MTV berbentuk retractable pen and some coins pouch) datang kpd budiman dan memberi hadiah,Congrats ya budiman!
Budiman : makasihh..

And afterwards they have some crazy competition to get some CDs,before finally welcoming Maliq on stage.A very heavy cheer whenever the name is mentioned,since most of the crowd were waiting for Maliq.Then Maliq & D’Essentials eventually came on stage,and Indah distributed some of Maliq music freebies,which again,i got two of them,one of which of course i gave to Muiz.We got ourselves this:



The performance from Maliq was mind blowing,just like when we saw in jakarta.They kicked off with their highly anticipated Kangen in a live-and kicking-style followed by Sampai Kapan (the duet song with local singer Camelia of Malaysia in the album,but she wasnt around) and number of hits from their 1st album like  the groovy Sunshine, indonesian sound Tandanya, Hadirmu, Untitled (with Widhi as 2nd vocals) ,The one, the upcoming single - Free Your Mind , Are You in the Mood, my favorite Terdiam, and the funky Blow my mind.
They wrapped up their performance in their own style and that was really cool.


So the event came to an end,and i as we were about to leave,suddenly VJ Rianti came from nowhere on her way up the exit too.I didnt waste anytime,went to approach her and i asked
Budiman : Excuse me,kamu yang lagi ngestar dalam film ‘JOMBLO’ tu kan
VJ R       : Iya! Kamu Budiman kan?
Budiman : Iya!! Eh bisa difotoin sama kamu?
VJ R       : Of course
CLICK!


So we went back fully satisfied with the performance,and to know that we had donated some part of that money to the quake fund is relieving too.
It was a really great day,and that kind of day doesnt come too often!
