A day at Wien,Österrich!
Tuesday 16th MAY 2006 - Wien,Österrich
After having some breakfast,I went out alone,as Daniel had to go for a photoshoot session, and i took the opportunity to stroll Wien in a slow pace,as i have quite some mild blisters at my feet.We decided that we would meet at Zieglergaße station at 1300.So,i headed again to the district 1 area,to MuseumQuartier (MQ) and wander around and get myself lost. Then i rested and have something to munch and drink before continued walking.( Guess where this is? ).
My camera has indicated some signs of low-batt syndrome, thus i immediately switch it on to Viewfinder mode rather than LCD mode.Tried to minimize battery usage, cuz i have places yet to see and snap.
It was about noon,i walked back to District 1 area to do some peoplewatching.Quite interesting. Then i got off to the U-bahn station where i met Daniel and we headed for lunch. We were talking bout typical Austrian dishes/meal the previous night,so Daniel brought me to a place called Centimetre where austrian meals are served. He of course helped me with the menu (in deutsch) and picked up Knödel mit Ei for me ( a mix of eggs, onions,n some other stuffs) and it turned out to be quite nice.Unfortunately i cant finish the BIG PORTION they served me.
( Knödel mit Ei )
Earlier Daniel and I had planned to go to Schonbrünn Palace. However,Daniel had something urgent to do,so we head back home.I too, need some rest,as my feet are aching.
After a good nap,i woke up at 6 pm.I told Daniel,I’d go to buy some souvenirs although its kinda late. So,i went straight to the Stephenplatz station, bought some stuffs and then decided to have a look at the Schonbrünn Palace. It was about 9 stations away, but since the night falls at about 8.40 and it is still bright, i gave it a go.
(from the main entrance of the palace)
The Palace was big and the gardens were HUGE. And very beautiful as well.As you can see from here, theres somthing like a monument on top of the hill at the palace backyard. It took some determination to reach up there, since it was about late, and i was tired. But hey, you’ve been so far to let go a good view from the top.So i walked up there and wow,a view of the palace from the top of the hill.
So after having some rest (it was tiring to go uphill) i decided to go back at 2030hrs.I walked down and headed for the exit, only to realize all other gates are closed except the main gates.whew,a long way to go!
Its getting dark, and i sped up as i’ve told Daniel i’ll be back before 9pm.After not finding the main gate,i decided to jump off the fence and rushed towards the U-bahn station and straight to Westbahnof.Decided to buy some drinks at a store, then i heard some malay language spoken! I approached them and chat with 4 ppl,2 of em of Malaysia and 2 of Singapore. They’re Austrian Air staff who’re attending course now at Wien.Cool.
I arrived at Daniel’s about 9.30,and it was tiresome. That night we chatted more, and discuss many more things.I presented him some "Dodol" from Malaysia and he looked enjoying it! He also taught me some DJing and stuffs on Drum & Bass which is nice stuff. We had a lot of fun that night.Too bad i gotta leave the next morning.Hope to see you again,Daniel.Maybe in ur trip to Malaysia some time in the future?
